Pass-Through Dishwashers

Pass-through (hood) dishwashers let staff slide racks straight through from the dirty side to the clean side, which makes them ideal for busy restaurants, clubs and hotels. Here's what to check.

1. Match capacity to your service

Capacity is listed in baskets per hour. Count how much you wash in your busiest hour and choose a machine that keeps up without staff waiting on it.

2. Plan the layout

Pass-through machines sit between an inlet bench and an outlet bench, often in a straight line or a corner. Measure the full run and the height clearance needed to lift the hood.

3. Power and plumbing

Most pass-through models need 415V three-phase power, a water connection and a drain. Have a licensed electrician and plumber install it.

4. Water quality

Hard water causes scale that affects wash results and shortens machine life. A water filter or softener is worth considering.
