A hot food display keeps cooked food hot, safe and looking good until it's sold. Here's what to check.
1. Wet or dry heat?
Wet bain maries heat a water bath under the pans for gentle, even heat that keeps food moist. Dry heat displays warm the food directly and suit pies, pastries and fried food.
2. Size and layout
Think about how many pans or trays you need on show and whether customers help themselves or staff serve from behind. Use the Width filter to find models that fit your counter.
3. Food safety
Australia's Food Standards Code requires hot food to be kept at 60°C or above. A hot food display keeps cooked food hot, but it isn't designed to heat cold food up, so make sure food goes in already hot.
4. Power
Smaller units usually plug into a standard 10A power point, while larger ones may need 15A. Check the product page before you order.
