From upright freezers to underbench models, these units provide dependable frozen storage for restaurants, cafés, and catering businesses. Keep ingredients preserved and organised with reliable commercial-grade freezing equipment.

How to choose the right commercial freezer

A good freezer protects your stock and your margins. Here's what to weigh up before you buy.

1. Pick the right type for the job

  • Upright storage freezers are the workhorse for back-of-house bulk storage, from single door models around 500 to 650 litres up to four door units well over 1,000 litres.
  • Underbench and workbench freezers fit under the counter and add a stainless prep surface on top, ideal for keeping frozen stock close to the line.
  • Chest and island freezers hold a lot of stock in a small footprint. Island models with sliding glass lids also work as front-of-house displays.
  • Glass door display freezers let customers see and grab ice cream, frozen meals and other frozen lines.

2. Measure your space first

Measure the width, depth and height of the space, plus any doorways the freezer has to pass through on delivery. Leave room around the unit for airflow so the compressor isn't working overtime. Use the Width and Capacity filters on this page to narrow the list to models that fit.

3. Solid door or glass door?

Solid doors hold the cold better and suit storage areas. Glass doors cost a little more to run but help sell product when the freezer is in front of customers.

4. Check the temperature, climate rating and power

Most freezers in this range run between about -22°C and -18°C, which keeps frozen food frozen hard. Check the maximum ambient temperature in the spec table if your kitchen runs hot, and confirm the power details on the product page. Most models plug into a standard 10A power point.

5. Plan for food safety

Australia's Food Standards Code requires food that's meant to be frozen to stay frozen. Avoid overloading the freezer with warm product, keep the door seals clean, and check the temperature regularly.
